The lovely Lubka over at Balgar-ka nominated my blog for the Liebster award. Lubka is a Bulgarian living in London, and I love the variety of her posts. She shares recipes, outfits, and really interesting insights- check out her post on the similarities between Native American and Bulgarian prints/patterns. Somehow I had never noticed this before, and it really is quite fascinating!
With the award, I have been presented with a series of questions to answer:
1) Where in the world have you been to?
Around the US, Canada, Bulgaria, Germany, & Greece.
2) What is your favorite food?
An impossible question! I love many foods, but Shopska salad is a favorite.
3) Favorite cocktail?
I'm a big fan of beer, but when I do drink liquor, I love a vodka tonic.
4) Dog or cat person?
Although I have never owned either, I do prefer cats.
5) Biggest fail in public?
My most embarrassing moment in recent years occurred in the middle of a very crowded restaurant in Sofia. Martin and I were there one night having a meet up with friends/former co-workers from Alaska. The tables were situated in such a way that you had to step up about a half foot onto a platform in order to sit down. Well as we were getting up to leave, I forgot about the step down, and as I reached out for my coat on a chair, I misstepped, stumbled, and lost my balance. It was like I was in slow motion, and I just went crashing down, landing on my back. I was helped up quickly, but of course I would have preferred the floor to open up and swallow me at that moment. So embarrassing. I was cheered up by a friend who pointed out that the name of the restaurant, which was in Bulgarian, translated in English to something like "Uneven Pavement".
6) Android or iPhone?
I don't use either, but I do have an old iPhone that makes for a good mobile internet reader.
7) Heels, wedges, or flats?
Flats for the win!
8) Your dream vacation?
A trip through Western Europe, wandering around towns and cities.
9) The last book you read?
I recently finished A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail. I would recommend it to anyone, but especially those interested in hiking and camping. Not only is it a fun story, but it also has a lot of interesting info too.
10) If you had to put 10 grand in a charity, what would it be?
I would donate the money to St. Jude's.
11) What coffee do you drink?
Well in Bulgaria I loved my Nescafe, but now that I'm back in the states, I like Seattle's Best.
That was fun- thanks for thinking of me, Lubka! Rather than choosing individual people to award, I pass it along to anyone reading who wants to answer the same questions :)
